Martin Terrier’s superb form in Ligue 1 has attracted the attention of Lyon and Monaco; not to mention Premier League big spenders Everton.

It is almost a year since FootMercato claimed Everton had sent scouts to watch Martin Terrier in action for Lille on three separate occasions.
The highly-rated striker had only played seven Ligue 1 games at the time for Lille, and was without a senior goal to his name, but his potential was clear for all to see.
And now, after a fine breakthrough year in France’s top flight, L’Equipe claims that Everton are set to renew their interest in Terrier who, like his animal namesake, is quick, tenacious and has plenty of bite in attack.

The 20-year-old has shone since joining newly promoted Strasbourg in the summer, his three goals and two assists guiding one of the league’s most well supported clubs to an impressive placing of 11th with over half of the season gone.
Terrier was particularly impressive in a 3-0 away win at Bordeaux in December, sealing an eye-catching result with a sensational solo goal which started deep inside his own half. He also played all 90 minutes as Strasbourg beat runaway leaders PSG 2-1 at home the week before.

And according to L’Equipe, Everton are very interested in the France under-21 striker. Reigning Ligue 1 champions Monaco are also keen, as are Lyon, who are reported to be considering paying up to around £18 million for one of France’s most highly-rated strikers.
Everton would have to pay a lot more than they would have done a year ago. But Terrier has proved in the last few months that he is indeed the real deal.
