Premier League and Merseyside rivals Everton and Liverpool are interested in raiding Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for Kerem Demirbay.
Expect Kerem Demirbay to be a man in demand this summer.
The German international has been a real leading light at Hoffenheim over the last 18 months and it appears only a matter of time before he follows the likes of Niklas Sule and Sebastian Rudy out the door and on to the next step in his career.
Everton have been linked for some time and, according to Bild, are expected to renew their interest and go head-to-head with Merseyside rivals Liverpool.
The report states that both Everton and Liverpool are among the clubs keen on the dynamic attacking midfielder, who is also on the radar of AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal.
Demirbay would not come cheap however. His contract stipulates that a club could sign him in the summer, as long as they are willing to pay a release clause of £28 million.
On the evidence of the last season and a half, however, Demirbay may be worthy of such a fee. The 24-year-old scored six goals and produced eight assists to fire Hoffenheim into Europe for the first time in their history last season.
Alyhough whether he would fit into an Everton side already boasting plenty of creative number ten types is debatable.
With a gap opening up in Liverpool’s midfield after the exit of Philippe Coutinho, perhaps Demirbay would be better off heading to the red half of Merseyside rather than the blue.
