Sam Allardyce and Antonio Conte are both facing uncertain futures at Everton and Chelsea – and the Premier League duo could turn to ex-PSG boss Blanc.
Laurent Blanc looked to be on his way to becoming one of European football’s most talented tacticians until PSG’s Champions League collapse against Manchester City in 2016 left his reputation at the Parc des Princes in tatters.
But, after two years out of the game, France Football (April 2018, page 13) are claiming that Blanc could be offered a route back into management – with Premier League duo Everton and Chelsea both potentially on the lookout for a new coach this summer.
It is looking increasingly likely that Antonio Conte will depart Stamford Bridge this summer with Chelsea 10 points outside the Champions League places, and France Football believe that Blanc would be very interested in ending his exile with a move to West London.
But, interestingly, the report adds that Everton have also emerged as potential candidates for the 52-year-old.
Sam Allardyce is the current incumbent at Goodison Park and, despite allaying fears over a potential relegation battle when taking over from David Unsworth in November, is not exactly a popular figure among the Goodison Park fanbase.
Blanc, however, would perhaps be the most high profile appointment. The former Manchester United defender has a very impressive CV, winning a combined four Ligue 1 titles with Bordeaux and Paris Saint-Germain, not to mention four Coupe de la Ligues and two Coupe de France titles.
He has also been named Ligue 1 Manager of the Year twice and spent three years in charge of the French national team, winning 16 of his 27 matches.
