Aston Villa could let Under-23 star Easah Suliman leave on loan this month with Oldham Athletic, Northampton and Shrewsbury Town hopeful.
Easah Suliman might be one of the most promising youngsters in Aston Villa’s academy but the path to the first-team looks blocked right now.
33-year-old Alan Hutton (below) remains Steve Bruce’s first-choice right-back while Ahmed Elmohamady, a summer signing from Hull City, has proven himself at Championship level previously and is a more than capable deputy. And James Bree, the youngster who joined from Barnsley a year ago, is a full-back with real promise even if he has struggled for opportunities in claret and blue.
As such, Suliman has made only one appearance for Villa’s first-team this season, playing just nine minutes in the 4-1 EFL Cup win against Wigan Athletic in August in what was his senior debut for the club he joined back in 2012.
And the Birmingham Mail is now reporting that 19-year-old Suliman is keen to secure a move away from Villa Park in this January transfer window in order to boost his prospects of first-team football.
The defender made nine appearances in the fourth tier at Cheltenham Town last season, but Aston Villa’s Under-23 boss Kevin McDonald has been impressed with Suliman’s progress and believes he can step up to League One level.
Oldham Athletic, Northampton Town and surprise promotion challengers Shrewsbury town are all interested in signing the teenager, the Birmingham Mail adds.
Suliman, who started every game as England’s Under-19s won the European Championships in the summer, will be hoping that a short-term loan will make Villa manager Steve Bruce sit up and take notice of his talents before Hutton’s contract expires this summer.
