Borussia Dortmund cannot afford to sign Kieran Tierney this summer with Celtic demanding a hefty £25 million for their academy graduate, according to Kicker.

Left-back has become something of a problem position for the Bundesliga giants this season, with long-serving Marcel Schmelzer seemingly past his best and struggling with injuries.

The Portuguese international Raphael Guerrero is better suited to a more advanced, midfield role while Achraf Hakimi is only on loan from Real Madrid and likely to return to the Santiago Bernabau this summer.

As a result, Dortmund have been forced to field the centre-half Abdou Diallo (below) on the flanks.

The Sun broke the news this week that BVB were hopeful of luring Tierney to the Signal Iduna Park. But new reports from Germany should have Celtic fans breathing a little easier.

Kicker points out that Tierney is exactly the kind of player Dortmund are looking for: a speedy, attack-minded and technically gifted left-back in the Schmelzer mould.

But, with Celtic valuing the youngster at £25 million, it seems he is just a bit too rich for Lucian Favre’s side.
