Djibril Sidibe has played just 31 minutes of Premier League football at Marco Silva’s Everton but will Monaco sell him to Serie A strugglers AC Milan?

Djibril Sidibe’s Everton future is starting to come under question already with Fox Sports claiming that AC Milan have identified the World Cup winner as a potential reinforcement for the right-hand side of their defence.

It’s fair to say the Frenchman hasn’t really made an impact since he swapped Monaco for Merseyside in a one-year loan deal.

Sidibe has played just 31 minutes of Premier League football so far and, if it wasn’t for Seamus Coleman’s red card in the 1-0 defeat to Burnley before the international break, the 27-year-old might still be awaiting his first ever appearance in the English top flight.

According to Fox Sports, Monaco can re-call Sidibe in January and they might be tempted to do just that if Milan express a desire to pay a substantial sum to sign the former Lille and Troyes flyer on a permanent deal.

Both Davide Calabria and Andrea Conti have struggled with injuries at the San Siro recently while the Rossoneri also parted company with Ignacio Abate over the summer, potentially opening the door for Sidibe to make a shock move away from Everton after just a few months on English shores.

He was one of the best right-backs in world football just two years ago, producing five assists as Monaco stunned French football to lift the Ligue 1 title while storming to the Champions League semi-finals.

Rio Ferdinand likened him to Brazil legend Cafu after a thrilling triumph over Manchester City (BT Sport, 21 February 2018) but Sidibe looks a shadow of that swashbuckling powerhouse these days.
