Vincent Janssen’s spell at Tottenham Hotspur could end this summer with the Premer League giants putting the Fenerbahce loanee on the market
Everything has gone wrong for Vincent Janssen since he made that ill-fated £18.6 million move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2016 from AZ Alkmaar, as reported by Sky Sports.
The Dutchman went from the Eredivisie’s most prolific striker to a major Premier League flop and even a loan spell at Turkish side Fenerbahce has not offered much relief.
Struck down since December by an injury, Janssen has scored just twice in 11 league games for the Super Lig outfit.
And Fotospor are now reporting that Tottenham could be ready to cash in on the 23-year-old this summer. Besiktas are prepared to overlook Janssen’s difficult spell at Istanbul neighbours Fener and make a bid for the striker this summer, potentially to replace Cenk Tosun who moved to Everton last January for £27 million.
It is understood that Tottenham have put Janssen on the market – and would be willing to accept around £10 million. That is not far off half the fee Spurs paid two years ago but, considering that Janssen’s reputation has plummeted in that time, they might be happy just to take what they can get right now.
Though selling Janssen for just £10 million would surely earn him a place in the list of Tottenham’s biggest flops of the Premier League era.
