Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have reportedly renewed their interest in Motherwell’s Scottish Premiership star Jake Hastie ahead of the summer transfer window.
Rangers will have to pay a development fee of £300,000 if they win the race to sign the coveted Motherwell winger Jake Hastie, as reported by the Express.
Hastie has been a revelation at Fir Hill since he returned from a loan spell at Alloa Athletic in the January transfer window, scoring seven times in 13 games for Stephen Robinson’s side in the last three months.
According to the Express, Rangers held talks about signing Hastie when his contract expires in July but the deal looked to be dead when they pulled out of negotiations earlier in April.
The report claims that the Gers have performed another unexpected U-turn and will return to the table in the coming days as they look to lure the 20-year-old, who is also a target for Middlesbrough, Derby County, Hull City and Millwall, to Ibrox.
Motherwell will be due some compensation given that Hastie honed his trade at the club.
But Rangers will have to pay just £300,000, which is a bargain for a player who has the potential to become one of Scotland’s most exciting forwards in many a year.
