Championship giants Leeds United are keen to sign Barnsley loanee Oli McBurnie, who is on loan from Premier League outfit Swansea City.

Oli McBurnie is seen during a training session prior to the International Friendly match between Scotland and Costa Rica at Orium Sports Centr on March 19, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Swansea City appear to be rather concerned about Oli McBurnie’s apparent desire to move to his hometown club Leeds United this summer.

The Scottish Sun stated last week that the highly-rated Swansea striker is keen on a switch to Leeds after starring in the Championship on loan at their Yorkshire rivals Barnsley.

And The Mail then reported that Leeds are indeed keen on signing McBurnie this summer, the 21-year-old having netted eight times in 13 league starts for The Tykes.

McBurnie still has one year left on his Swansea contract, however, meaning the Premier League side aren’t in danger of losing last season’s Premier League 2 Player of the Season on a free just yet.

But The Sun (22nd April, page 63) reports that the South Welsh side are keen to tie down McBurnie to a long-term deal in order to ward off interest from Leeds, not to mention fellow Championship sides Reading and Derby County.

It is understood that Swansea will also offer McBurnie a big pay rise to commit his future to the Liberty Stadium.

Leeds, therefore, will be hoping that the prospect of returning to the city where he was born will prove too strong and convince the Scotland international to follow his heart rather than his wallet.
