Premier League trio West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Burnley are all interested in signing Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic this summer.
Newcastle United simply could not find a buyer for Aleksandar Mitrovic in January.
The out of favour Serbian striker was on the market for £15 million according to the Mirror but, when no club was willing to meet Newcastle’s price-tag, the Magpies were forced to loan him out to Fulham instead.
And what a decision that has been. Mitrovic, who cost Newcastle £13 million, has plundered ten goals in 12 Championship starts for a Fulham side chasing automatic promotion and there is no shortage of interest in the 23-year-old now.
According to Calciomercato, top flight trio Crystal Palace, Burnley and West Ham are all keen to sign Mitrovic this summer. West Ham’s interest is particularly intriguing, given that they were one of the sides not interested enough to pay £15 million just three months ago.
And it seems that Newcastle have a plan to ensure they can eke every last penny out of the Hammers, Palace or Burnley this summer.
The Chronicle claims that Newcastle will delay selling Mitrovic until after the World Cup, in the hope that he impresses for Serbia over in Russia in adds a few more million to his price-tag. The former Anderlecht front man is his nation’s big hope this summer, having netted six times for the country in the last year.
The Chronicle claimed recently that Newcastle were seeking around £20 million for Mitrovic this summer – but that fee could increase ever further with a decent showing in front of the watching world.
