Everton and Bournemouth are tracking Martin Terrier, who is starring in Ligue 1 for Strasbourg, with a view to a January Premier League switch.

12 months ago, FootMercato reported that Everton’s Director of Football Steve Walsh was keeping a close eye on the little-known Lille forward Martin Terrier.

And it appears that, one year on, the Toffees are set to step up their pursuit, although the France under-21 star would cost far more these days.

The Mirror (live transfer blog, 10.33am) states that Everton are battling Premier League rivals Bournemouth for Terrier this month. And it is understood that the striker, who has starred on loan at Strasbourg, will cost around £13 million.

The 20-year-old has scored three goals and set up another two in Ligue 1 this season and became a social media sensation on the back of his lung-busting solo goal in Strasbourg’s 3-0 win away to Bordeaux in December.

An energetic and pacey forward who can also play on the left of attack, Terrier would be another highly-rated youngster at Goodison Park if Everton can tempt Lille into a January sale.

But Bournemouth would arguably offer Terrier a greater chance of first-team football, particularly as Everton are set to add Theo Walcott to their ranks after completing a deal to bring in Cenk Tosun from Besiktas.

L’Equipe stated earlier this week that Lyon had made an enquiry about the striker’s availability while Monaco, who know a thing or two about developing talent, are also keen.
