Reports in Italy had sensationally claimed that Championship outfit Aston Villa made a bid to sign Colombia’s World Cup star Yerry Mina.

Aston Villa have allegedly gone from having to sell all of their star players to making big-money bids for Barcelona players in just a few weeks.
Villa were in crisis after losing the play-off final to Fulham in May with Tony Xia’s reign falling apart amid a financial nightmare. But since being taken over by Naseef Sawiris and Wes Edens, fans have been able to sleep a little easier with the likes of Jack Grealish, James Chester and Jonathan Kodjia possibly set to stay.
Nonetheless, you could forgive supporters for being a little sceptical as Tuttomercatoweb claims that Aston Villa have made a bid worth an initial £9 million, potentially rising to £18 million, for Barcelona centre-back Yerry Mina.
Mina has been heavily tipped with a move to the Premier League after impressing for Colombia at the World Cup but a reported move from Aston Villa was certainly a bolt from the blue.

And though while the Birmingham Mail acknowledges that a John Terry-less Aston Villa do want a new centre-back before the window slams shut, it is reported that a successful move for Mina is ‘unrealistic’.
Mundo Deportivo claimed on Thursday that Mina had agreed terms with Manchester United over a £35 million move to Old Trafford. Now this seems a little more likely.
