On Wednesday, the Nottingham Post reported that Forest had held positive talks with El Arabi Hillel Soudani with a £2.6 million move to the City Ground on the cards.

And there is more good news for the Nottingham Forest faithful in Thursday.

According to Algerian publication La Buteur, Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb have now agreed to sell Soudani to the Championship giants. And it is understood that the 30-year-old will travel to England today ahead of a medical which is expected to take place on Friday.

Personal terms have also been agreed and Forest seem to have beaten off competition from Italian side Cagliari, who had attempted an eleventh hour move to hijack the Algerian international’s impending move to England’s east midlands.

This appears to be the realisation of a long pursuit for Soudani. Forest had a bid rejected in January but finally appear to have got their man.

And although the former Vitoria Guimaraes man is far from a household name in England in comparison to some of Forest’s other striker targets, there are plenty of reasons for fans to get excited.

Soudani scored 18 goals for Dinamo Zagreb as they won the Croatian title last season, winning the Golden Boot and Player of the Year award.
