Championship giants Aston Villa are desperate to find a buyer for out-of-favour Aaron Tshibola, but that could be easier said than done.

It is only a year and a half since Aston Villa paid £5 million for Reading youngster Aaron Tshibola, as reported by TEAMtalk.

Though it is fair to say Villa will not be seeing much return on their investment. Tshibola has made just eight Championship appearances for the club, struggled badly in loan spells at Nottingham Forest and MK Dons, and could now be sold at a substantial loss.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Villa are determined to sell the 23-year-old this month and could be willing to accept an offer as low as £1.5 million.

The same publication claimed last week that Steve Bruce’s side had rejected two loan offers for the midfielder and it appears that Aston Villa would only be open to discussing a permanent deal this month.

The Midland giants need to sell fringe players in order to free up funds for new additions and Tshibola, who has not played once since MK Dons cut short his disappointing loan back in November, is surely one of the first candidates for the cull.

It remains to be seen, however, whether anyone is willing to hand Villa £1.5 million for a player whose reputation has been torn to shreds over the last 18 months.

Bruce has clearly never been a fan of the tenacious ball winner, omitting him from the side as soon as he replaced Roberto Di Matteo at Villa Park back in October 2016.
