Demetri Mitchell has featured for Premier League giants Manchester United this summer but would benefit from a spell at Championship outfit Derby County.
If you ask Derby County fans which position the club still needs to strengthen before the transfer window shuts, many will say left-back.
It has become something of a problem position at Pride Park of late but The Rams have so far failed to bring in reinforcements despite links with the likes of Joe Bryan and Josh da Silva. It spoke volumes that the fans were desperate for Derby to hijack Leeds United’s £5 million move for Barry Douglas.
But with time running out, it seems that Derby are set to return to a player who had been on their radar earlier in the summer but had recently seemed very unlikely to move to the East Midlands
According to Edinburgh News, interest is rising in the 21-year-old Manchester United left-back Demitri Mitchell. It is reported that Derby are one of the clubs south of the border keen to sign the youngster, who has featured for United during their pre-season tour of the USA.
Mitchell impressed on loan at Hearts during the second half of 2017/18 and the report adds that the Edinburgh side would love to bring him back to Tynecastle.
But it is understood that Derby’s superior finances could give them the edge as Manchester United are keen for whoever signs Mitchell on loan to cover his wages.
