Championship club Leeds United are reportedly hoping to enhance their options by bringing Derby County’s Golden Boot winner Matej Vydra to Elland Road

Leeds United and Matej Vydra is a transfer rumour that could rumble on for some time.
The Derby Telegraph reported a week ago that Leeds had expressed an interest in signing the Czech striker as they aim to add a proven Championship goalscorer to their ranks. And there aren’t many better than Vydra, who won the Golden Boot last season with 21 goals to his name.
Leeds would obviously have to spend big to sign Derby’s record signing. But if he can be the Chris Wood replacement that Leeds so obviously lacked last season, the former Watford and West Brom could prove to be worth every single penny.

And latest reports in The Mirror (live blog, 10.40am) have certainly given Leeds’ hopes a boost.
It is common knowledge that Derby owner Mel Morris wants to reduce the club’s wage bill this summer with Vydra the most likely player to be sacrificed. And The Mirror claims that Morris is in discussions about selling Vydra to Leeds in order to fund new signings for manager Frank Lampard.

Vydra is understood to be valued at £11 million, £3 million more than Derby paid Reading for his signature two years ago.
It remains to be seen, however, whether Leeds can afford to pay an eight-figure sum on Vydra, who would become their most expensive signing since Robbie Fowler arrived from Liverpool all the way back in 2001.
