Millwall may struggle to hang on to striker Lee Gregory with six months of his contract remaining and Championship rivals Derby County are keen.

The signing of Cameron Jerome from Norwich City last week took Derby County’s tally of senior centre-forwards up to six.
But that number is set to be decreased in the coming days. The out-of-favour Darren Bent is being heavily linked with a loan move to Burton Albion, while The Sunday People (21st January, page 48) report that Wolves are going head-to-head with Sunderland to sign Chris Martin (below).

Although there could be another striker joining Jerome at Pride Park with Bent and Martin nearing the exit.
The Mail state that Derby ran the rule over Millwall’s Lee Gregory during Saturday’s dramatic 4-3 win away at Leeds United. The 29-year-old scored the Lions’ second at Elland Road and caused problems for the hosts’ defence with his direct running and hard-pressing from the front.

Gregory is also out of contract in the summer so could be snapped up for a cut-price fee this month. And with Derby sitting second in the Championship table, just one point clear of third placed Cardiff City, Gary Rowett could welcome some more attacking options at the mid-way point of what is shaping up to be an excellent season.
Gregory has hardly been prolific for Millwall this season, scoring just five times in 25 Championship fixtures, but could be expected to find the net with more regularity in a Derby side who have netted the third most goals in the division.
