Danny Ings’ Liverpool career looks to be over.

According to The Telegraph, the striker has decided to bring an end to his Anfield dream in search of more regular game time as he approaches the peak of his career.

Ings, who will turn 26 next month, moved to Liverpool from Burnley in 2015 but his Reds career has been wrecked by two serious knee injuries. And by the time he returned to full fitness midway through the season, he found himself behind Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and even Dominic Solanke in the pecking order.

The report adds that Liverpool have offered Ings a new long-term contract but the wily striker has decided that the best course of action would be to leave in order to kick-start his career. The one-time England international should not be short of offers though, especially with Liverpool willing to accept a cut-price fee in order to ease his exit.

Tottenham Hotspur were desperate to sign Ings when his contract at Burnley expired three years ago and The Telegraph adds that they have made regular enquiries about his availability ever since.

Spurs are still on the lookout for a back-up option to Harry Kane and Ings, an instinctive goalscorer, certainly fits the bill.

The Telegraph adds that Wolves, West Ham, Newcastle and Leicester have all expressed an interest in the past so expect a number of clubs to be fighting over his signature in the coming weeks.
