James McCarthy could reportedly leave Everton for Premier League rivals Crystal Palace after failing to make an appearance under Marco Silva.
Everton midfielder James McCarthy could join Crystal Palace on loan until the end of the season, according to the Mail.
The Republic of Ireland international has not made a single appearance for The Toffees since breaking his leg in a collision with the then-West Brom striker Salomon Rondon 12 months ago.
Marco Silva has preferred to partner Idrissa Gueye with Andre Gomes in the centre of the park, meaning McCarthy has only been included in a match day squad once all season, featuring on the bench in the FA Cup third round win against Lincoln City.
According to The Mail, however, the former Wigan Athletic enforcer is now fully fit and desperate to get his career back on track.
So a short-term move to Crystal Palace could represent an ideal opportunity, given that Eagles boss Roy Hodgson is understood to be a big fan of the Glasgow-born 28-year-old.
McCarthy, a £13 million signing from Wigan in 2013, has been linked with a number of clubs recently with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic linked via the Mirror (13 January, page 66).
West Ham United were also understood to be keen.
