Danny Ings needs a fresh start after making just three Premier League starts for Liverpool in 2017/18 so how about a move to Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace?

Dnny Ings of Liverpool warms up prior to the Premier League 2 match between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool at The Lamex Stadium on February 5, 2018 in Stevenage, England.

Liverpool could be set to trim down their squad this summer with strikers Daniel Sturridge and Dominic Solanke linked with moves elsewhere. And now, another Liverpool striker is rumoured to be attracting interest.

According to the Times, Danny Ings is set to bid farewell to Anfield this summer after three years on Merseyside. And it is understood that he could follow in the footsteps of Christian Benteke and swap Liverpool for Crystal Palace.

The Londoners have been tracking Ings for the past 12 months or so. And it is no wonder why considering that the strikers at Roy Hodgson’s disposal notched just two Premier League goals between them in 2017/18.

Palace are in desperate need of a goal poacher after flirting far too close to the relegation zone in recent months, and Ings would offer that wily movement and pace in behind; a stark contrast to the physical target men Benteke, Aleksandar Sorloth and Connor Wickham.

The 25-year-old Ings moved to Liverpool from Burnley in 2015, but his big break soon came crashing down when he suffered the first of two serious knee injuries which kept him on the sidelines for over a year.

And, when returning to full fitness, Ings found himself behind Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah in the pecking order.

He managed just eight Premier League appearances in 2017/18 and was left out of Liverpool’s Champions League final squad.
