Shandong Luneng have made a £15 million bid for Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke, according to the Times.

The Belgian battering ram moved to Selhurst Park after a frustrating spell at Liverpool in 2016 and he initially looked worth every penny of his club record £32 million transfer fee. Benteke scored 17 goals in his first Premier League season at Crystal Palace, firing the club away from the relegation zone.

But his form has dropped alarmingly since Sam Allardyce’s spell in charge of The Eagles came to an end.

Benteke has found the net just four times in his last 46 Premier League appearances, scoring a single goal in the 2018/19 season.

And, with just one year remaining on his £130,000 a week contract, it would be a major surprise if Crystal Palace did not take up the chance to sell Benteke for £15 million.

According to the Times, Shandong Luneng have offered the 28-year-old a substantial pay rise with a contract worth £8 million a year on the table. He will link up with compatriot Marouane Fellaini if he decides to join the Chinese Super League outfit.
