Montpellier’s Ruben Aguilar could swap Ligue 1 for the Premier League with Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion linked.

Crystal Palace are leading the chase to sign Montpellier defender Ruben Aguilar ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline, according to Foot Mercato, with the Eagles facing competition from bitter rivals Brighton and Hove Albion.
It is well over a month now since Aaron Wan-Bissaka was lured away from Selhurst Park by Manchester United but, with time ticking down, Palace are still no closer to finding a replacement.
So Roy Hodgson’s side will have to go hell for leather if they want to lure Aguilar to the English capital.
The 26-year-old was a key player for a well-drilled Montpellier side who finished sixth in Ligue 1 last season with a better defensive record than Lyon, Marseille and Monaco. Aguilar even produced four assists, highlighting his quality in the final third.
Wan-Bissaka, for what it’s worth, produced just three assists in his entire Crystal Palace career.

Foot Mercato claims that Brighton are interested too but their old rivals are currently in pole position.
And, after missing out on James Justin, Max Aarons and most likely Timothy Castagne too, this latest claim will be very well received at Selhurst Park.
