There are plenty of Premier League teams interested in Norwich City play-maker James Maddison and now it appears Crystal Palace have joined the chase.

Is there now another Premier League club in the chase for Norwich City play-maker James Maddison?

The Sun (27 March, page 55) pointed out that the Canaries’ talisman has emerged as one of the most in-demand players in English football on the back of a sensational breakthrough season at Carrow Road.

Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City and Everton are understood to be interested with Norwich valuing the England U21 ace at £25 million, which would make him the biggest export in the history of the Championship.

So if Crystal Palace are interested in a player who has scored 13 and set up seven in the second tier this season, they must be prepared to make Maddison their third most expensive player ever, behind Christian Benteke and Mamadou Sakho.

Speculation has swirled ever since Palace’s sporting director Dougie Freedman was spotted in the crowd for QPR’s 4-1 thrashing of Norwich at Loftus Road on Easter Monday.

And Get West London reports that Maddison was the reason why Freedman made the short trip across the capital, although the former Coventry City starlet had one of his quietest displays of the season on a dreadful day for Daniel Farke’s side.

As it stands, Palace are set to part ways with Yohan Cabaye this summer as his contract expires in June. And Maddison could be a ready-made replacement, even if signing him would be easier said than done.

Maddison was rewarded for his fine form this season with a nomination for the EFL Young Player of the Year gong.
