Scott Arfield has only had one season at Scottish Premiership giants Rangers but will he return to the Premier League with Crystal Palace or Southampton?

Crystal Palace are hoping to bring Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield back to the Premier League this summer, according to the Scottish Sun.

Arfield joined his boyhood club on a free transfer last summer after his contract at Burnley expired and he has been a huge hit north of the border, scoring 11 goals for the Glasgow giants including a first hat-trick of his career against Motherwell recently.

Interestingly, Roy Hodgson was also hoping to bring the Canada international to Crystal Palace in January 2018 (Sky). And it seems the Eagles are hoping to finally get their man about a year-and-a-half on.

The report adds that Crystal Palace will face competition from Southampton Arfield, who is reported to be valued at a bargain £3 million.

Scott Arfield of Rangers is seen in action during the Scottish Cup 5th Round match between Kilmarnock and Rangers at Rugby Park on February 9, 2019 in Kilmarnock, Scotland.

Southampton are one midfielder down after bidding farewell to Steven Davis this week; the experienced Irishman joining Rangers on a permanent basis after returning to Ibrox on an initial loan spell in the January transfer window.

It remains to be seen whether Rangers are willing to sell one of their key players though, even for a £3 million profit.
