Premier League strugglers Fulham sacked Claudio Ranieri last week but a return to Italy is reportedly on the cards with Serie A side Roma.

Claudio Ranieri could be offered an immediate return to management just one week after being sacked by Fulham, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The veteran Italian was given his marching orders seven days ago, with the Cottagers well adrift in the Premier League relegation zone. There was no repeat of Ranieri’s Leicester City miracle in West London, with Fulham winning just three of his 17 games in charge.

Fulham have since handed Scott Parker the reigns until the end of the season, the former club captain taking over as interim boss after a brief spell as assistant coach.

But it seems Ranieri could be back in the game quicker than anyone expected. And with a bona fide European giant, too.

Tuttomercatoweb is reporting that Eusebio Di Francesco is on the verge of the sack at Roma after their dreadful season hit another low on Wednesday; the Italian powerhouses losing 3-1 to Porto in their Champions League round of 16 second leg.

It is claimed that Ranieri could take over, initially on an interim basis, with the option of a permanent role should he take Roma back into the Champions League places.

The 67-year-old coached the Giallorossi between 2009 and 2011, narrowly losing out to Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan in both Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
