Benik Afobe returned to Molineux on loan from Bournemouth and has fired Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Premier League.

Benik Afobe’s return to Wolverhampton Wanderers could hardly have gone better.

The striker joined on loan in January from Bournemouth, two years after he departed Molineux to sign for the Cherries for a hefty £10 million.

Afobe has scored six goals in six starts for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, including one brilliantly taken finish in the 4-0 away win at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday which confirmed Wolves as the 2017 Championship title winners.

The Telegraph had stated that Wolves were keen to sign Afobe, as well as fellow loanee Willy Boly, on a permanent basis with a double deal worth around £20 million on the cards.

But, according to Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb, a deal for Afobe has already been agreed.

They claim that the former Arsenal youngster had a clause in his contract meaning his loan would be turned into a permanent deal automatically when Wolves were promoted to the Premier League; a feat they achieved two weeks ago with a comfortable win against Birmingham City.

So it looks like Afobe has joined Diogo Jota in committing his future to a club he scored 22 goals for in 46 games during his first spell in the Black Country.

Time will tell, however, whether Afobe can cut it in the Premier League next season. He hit the net just 10 times in 63 games across two years at Bournemouth.
