Oliver Sarkic has joined Leeds United on loan from Benfica, but he had a spell with Swansea City earlier in the summer.

Everything Leeds United touched in the summer transfer window appears to have turned to gold, with Pierre-Michel Lasogga the latest example of Victor Orta’s Midas touch.

The German striker, on a season-long loan from Hamburg, proved that he is a more than capable replacement for Chris Wood with a clinical debut double in Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing of Burton Albion at Elland Road.

Lasogga, like Samu Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski (below), looks like an inspired bargain addition for a Leeds side who have taken the league by storm in the opening month of the new Championship season.

Therefore, Leeds fans should be confident that their latest new addition, Olvier Sarkic, has plenty of talent waiting to be unleashed.

Second time lucky?

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the 20-year-old striker has joined on loan from Benfica until the end of the year and will join up with the Under-23 squad for the time being.

Although Sarkic, who was born in Grimsby and earned rave reviews during a spell with Anderlecht’s academy, will be hoping to make a better impression at Leeds than during his previous attempts to earn a contract on UK shores.

According to Portuguese publication Record, Sarkic had a trail at Swansea City earlier in the summer but failed to earn a deal because the South Welsh club were unconvinced by his ability and therefore decided against offering him a deal.

Sarkic turned out for the Swans during their pre-season trip of Northern Ireland but, with Leeds renowned for bringing young talent into the first-team, he will be hoping that he will be given more chances to impress this time round.
