£32m striker Christian Benteke has scored just three Premier League goals in Crystal Palace colours since joining from Liverpool in 2016.

It will come as a surprise to no one to learn that Crystal Palace are desperately hoping to sign a new striker in the January transfer window.
Goals have been a problem for Roy Hodgson’s struggling side all season with just 13 to their name from 16 Premier League games. Palace’s top scorers, Wilfried Zaha and penalty taker Luka Milovojevic, have just three goals each with only Huddersfield Town netting fewer.
According to the Mail, Crystal Palace have now made a centre-forward the top priority with the transfer window set to open in a few weeks’ time. As a result, it seems this is set to cast doubt on the future of the out-of-sorts Christian Benteke.
The Belgian, a club record £32 million signing from Liverpool in 2016, has scored just three Premier League goals since the start of last season with his reputation falling apart as a result.

The Mail reports that Benteke is now facing a fight to secure his future at Selhurst Park. The former Aston Villa target man, who is understood to be earning £120,000 a week, is out of contract in 2020 so Palace are facing a race against time if they want to recoup some of their investment.
With Benteke looking like a shadow of his former self over the last 18 months, he would not be missed.
