Everton are reportedly in talks with wealthy Chinese investers, which is great news for Ronald Koeman’s transfer plans.

Everton have made no secret of their desire to smash the Premier League glass ceiling and earn their place among the elite sooner rather than later.

And, according to the Daily Mirror, their ambitions could be given an almighty boost with the club in advanced talks with a Chinese consortium to make a multi-million investment into the Merseyside giants.

Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri (above) is reportedly keen to secure cash-rich partners from elsewhere in order to help finance the £300 million move to a new stadium. After all, Moshiri worked at Arsenal during the transition from Highbury to the Emirates and knows all too well how the huge outlay restricted the club’s ability to spend big on top transfer targets.

Consequently, the Chinese investment is intended to give the Iranian steel magnate the freedom to continue directing substantial funds to help improve Ronald Koeman’s playing squad.

Dawn of a new era?

And the Daily Mirror report that this could aid Everton’s pursuit of four Premier League targets. Centre-backs Michael Keane and Virgil Van Dijk (below), who have enjoyed standout seasons at Burnley and Southampton respectively, have the makings of an impenetrable if expensive partnership with the duo likely to cost a combined £80 million.

Furthermore, Tottenham Hotspur’s understudy right-back is also reported to be on Everton’s shopping list, with Koeman hoping to compensate for the long-term absence of Seamus Coleman by signing one of the best crossers of the ball in the English game. The Sun claim he is valued at £12 million.

The Daily Mirror add that Everton are also prioritising a deal for Swansea City’s £30 million-rated talisman Gylfi Sigurdsson. With eight strikes and 12 assists to his name this season, the Icelandic playmaker would add cutting edge and a much-needed goal threat from central midfield.

Any Chinese partners are likely to be offered naming rights to Everton’s new arena – but that will be worth it if the club can boost their Champions League hopes with four top-class signings.
