Claudio Ranieri is reportedly set to reunite with Chelsea’s Danny Drinkwater at Fulham.
Claudio Ranieri has a challenge on his hands saving Fulham from the drop. Only two teams in the history of the Premier League have made a worst start to a top flight campaign than The Cottagers, who are bottom of the table with five points from 12 matches.
And, with the January transfer window just weeks away, it seems that Ranieri is looking to call upon a couple of players he knows well after being parachuted in to Craven Cottage to replace Slavisa Jokanovic.
Tuttomercatoweb has claimed that the Italian’s former Roma striker Stefano Okaka is a target, with his lack of game time at Watford making him a viable option.
The Express, meanwhile, reports that Ranieri could also look to reunite with his former Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater, two years after they celebrated that remarkable Premier League title success on the King Power turf.
Drinkwater is at Chelsea these days, but barely getting a look in under Blues boss Maurizio Sarri. The Express claims that the England international is likely to leave Stamford Bridge in January and is ‘in line’ to reunite with Ranieri a few miles down the road in West London.
Chelsea paid £30 million to sign Drinkwater in 2017 (Mirror) so Fulham, who spent over £100 million on new players over the summer, will hope to get a bargain.
