Report: Celtic’s forgotten man Scott Allan offered return to former club Hibernian

Hibs are allegedly keen to re-sign Scott Allan from Scottish Premiership rivals Celtic .

In hindsight, Scott Allan might have thought twice about swapping Hibernian for his big shot at Celtic in 2015.

Because since leaving Easter Road, the midfielder’s career has faltered dramatically. Allan has only made 13 league appearances for Celtic and is currently on his second loan spell in two years at Scottish Premiership rivals Dundee.

But according to the Star, Allan could be offered the chance to start again before the transfer window slams shut tonight.

It is understood that Hibs manager Neil Lennon, who quit his job as Celtic boss a year before Allan arrived at Parkhead, is keen to bring this enigmatic talent back to Edinburgh on a long-term basis.

The former Scotland under-21 star spent one excellent season in Scotland’s second tier with Hibernian in 2014/15, winning the Championship Player of the Year award after inspiring Alan Stubbs’ side to second place in the table.

And a return could make perfect sense with a future at Celtic looking very unlikely. Brendan Rodgers can count on the likes of Stuart Armstrong, Olivier Ntcham and Scott Brown with youngsters Eboue Kouassi and Kundai Benyu waiting in the wings, so it appears that there is no room at Parkhead for Allan.

It is understood that Hibs would have to offer a player to Dundee in order to strike an agreement to end Allan’s current loan spell at Dens Park.

But if this fallen talent can find the form that earned him that move to Celtic two-and-a-half years ago, Hibs might have pulled off one of the window’s best moves.
