Calvin Miller hasn’t played a Scottish Premiership game since Neil Lennon replaced Brendan Rodgers but is he set for League One Pompey?
Calvin Miller appears to have no future at Celtic with the seldom-seen left-back a target for Portsmouth before the transfer window slams shut, according to the Daily Record.
The 21-year-old rose through the ranks at Parkhead and appeared to have a bright future in Glasgow after being given a chance by Brendan Rodgers during the 2017/18 season.
But Miller’s first-team prospects have dried up since Rodgers was replaced by Neil Lennon in February and, despite Kieran Tierney’s £25 million move to Arsenal, the youngster hasn’t been included in a match-day squad this season.
Midfielder Callum McGregor was even trusted to start that doomed Champions League qualifier against Cluj with Miller left out of the side altogether.
So now could be the right time to sever ties with a club he has represented for almost a decade. The Record claims that Miller is one of the fringe players that Celtic are hoping to move on and Portsmouth are interested in handing the Glasgow-born flyer a fresh start south of the border.
It is no secret that Pompey are scouring the market for a left-back with manager Kenny Jackett admitting to the News on Monday that former Bradford and Millwall ace James Meredith is on trial at Fratton Park.
It remains to be seen, however, whether Miller’s future is tied to Celtic’s ability to bring in a new left-back themselves.
