Aaron Connolly scored twice on his first Premier League start against Spurs to reportedly catch the eye of Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

Brighton and Hove Albion are set to scupper any hopes Celtic had of luring Aaron Connolly to Parkhead on loan for the second half of the season, according to the Sun (13 October, page 63).
There are worse ways to make an impact in your first ever Premier League start. Connolly tore apart a beleaguered Tottenham Hotspur defence before the international break, scoring twice in as the Seagulls soared to a 3-0 win against Mauricio Pochettino’s side with the teenager’s speed, energy and lethal finishing leaving Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen battered and bruised.
Brighton some tidy football since Graham Potter was appointed as Chris Hughton’s successor and, in the 19-year-old Irishman, it seems that the new manager has found a striker capable of providing a much-needed clinical edge in front of goal.
So Celtic will be running head-first into a brick wall if they go all out to bring Connolly to Glasgow in the New Year.

The Sun claims that Neil Lennon’s side are big fans of the Galway-born forward but Brighton have no plans to let their rising star leave the Amex, either on loan or permanently, during the winter.
The same publication claimed that Celtic were interested this time last year too but, after establishing himself in the Premier League with a Man of the Match performance against Spurs, he’s not going anywhere soon.
