Milad Mohamaddi impressed for Iran at the World Cup and has again been linked with Scottish Premiership giants Celtic.

Milad Mohammadi of Iran reacts following the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia group B match between Iran and Portugal at Mordovia Arena on June 25, 2018 in Saransk, Russia.

Milad Mohammadi made headlines at the World Cup but not exactly for the right reasons.

The Iranian full-back earned cult hero status for a failed attempt at a ‘somersault throw-in’ over in Russia – but that did not stop the Akhmat Grozny man impressing the scouts that watched him in action for Carlos Quieroz’s side.

The Scottish Sun reported in June that both Celtic and Rangers were keen on Mohammadi, who was understood to be valued at £2 million.

Now, a move to Glasgow never materialised but reports over in Turkey are suggesting that the 25-year-old could be a man in demand again once the January transfer window opens in less than two months time.

Milliyet is reporting that Fenerbahce are interested in the attack-minded left-back – and it is understood that Celtic are also keen to follow-up their summer attempts to bring the Tehran-born player to Parkhead.

Mohamaddi, the report adds, is out of contract at the end of this season so Celtic will no doubt hope that they can snap him up for less than £2 million.

Mohamaddi has made 14 appearances in all competitions for Russian outfit Akhmat Grozny this season.
