Belgium international and Serie A ace Castagne has reportedly been on the radar of Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.
Celtic have made one last bid to bring Timothy Castagne to Glasgow before the January transfer window shuts on Thursday, according to Calciomercato.
The Atalanta defender is one of a number of right-backs who have been linked with a move to the Scottish Premiership champions this month, including Iran ace Milad Mohammadi and Swansea City star Connor Roberts.
But it seemed that Celtic had turned their attention to Borussia Dortmund flyer Jeremy Toljan instead. The Daily Record claimed that Brendan Rodgers was holding talks with the German flyer on Tuesday night.
According to Calciomercato, however, The Hoops have tested the water with one final offer to sign Castagne this week.
It is understood that Atalanta rejected the bid, however. The Serie A outfit want a lot more than the figure Celtic have offered and believe that there is not enough time to secure a replacement for the highly-rated Belgium international.
The report doesn’t make it clear how much Celtic were willing to pay but the Daily Record believe that Castagne is valued at £6 million, a fee that puts him out of The Bhoys’ price-range.
