Mikey Johnston has discussed leaving Scottish Premiership giants Celtic this summer and Alan Stubbs’ St Mirren have reportedly been in contact.

Less than 24 hours after Mikey Johnston admitted that he could benefit from a loan move away from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, it seems that the suitors are lining up for the 19-year-old’s signature.
“I’m a Celtic fan so I want to be here as long as possible and break into the first team. If this isn’t my year then I’ll need to go somewhere else to play. I’ll see what the gaffer thinks,” the teenager, who dreams of following close friend Kieran Tierney into the first-team, told the Daily Record.
And the Scottish Sun is now reporting that St Mirren are working on a deal to bring Johnston to Paisley. New Buddies boss Alan Stubbs has already held talks with Celtic counterpart Brendan Rodgers.
And with Rodgers keen to send Johnston out on loan and let him get regular game time under his belt, the report adds that a deal is already close to an agreement.

This will be a major coup for St Mirren given that a number of other clubs in Scotland’s top flight are also keen on Johnston, who was limited to just four league appearances last season thanks to injury and the form of James Forrest, Scott Sinclair and co.
Johnston is one of the most exciting talents in Celtic’s squad and scored his first ever goal at Parkhead with a lovely dinked finish in the 4-1 pre-season thrashing of Standard Liege on Saturday.
