Celtic remain hopeful of another loan spell for Patrick Roberts at Parkhead.
It’s hardly a surprise that Celtic would welcome Patrick Roberts back at Parkhead with open arms.
After all, the 20-year-old did win four titles during an excellent 18-month loan spell at Celtic from Manchester City, scoring 11 goals and setting up another 19 last season to help Brendan Rodgers’ side to an undefeated domestic treble.
And with City ready to loan Roberts out once more this summer, leaving him out of the squad for their Premier League opener against Brighton on Saturday, Celtic are desperate to snap him up again.
The Daily Record reports that Rodgers has enquired about the former Fulham youngster’s availability. And the Sunday Post claim Celtic hope City’s response will arrive sooner rather than later as Rodgers wants to register him in the squad ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League qualifying first-leg against Astana.
Consequently, Celtic would have to confirm Roberts’ return prior to Tuesday’s deadline.
The report claims that Pep Guardiola’s side see more value in loaning Roberts out to Ligue 1 high-flyers Nice or Premier League rivals Southampton, both of whom are keen to hand the winger an opportunity.
Therefore, the next few days could be make or break in Celtic’s desire to bring Roberts back to Parkhead.
