La Liga outfit Sevilla confirmed interest in Belgian World Cup star Boyata – but the Scottish Premiership champion won’t leave Celtic for Spain according to reports.

Sevilla's sporting director Joaquin Caparros arrives for a press conference by Sevilla's newly appointed coach Pablo Machin at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium in Sevilla on May 30, 2018....

Sevilla’s director of football confirmed his interest in signing Celtic centre-back Dedryck Boyata earlier this week, as reported by the Scottish Sun.

But latest reports suggest that Andalusia will not be the Belgian international’s destination as his future remains up in the air.

According to Fanatik, Boyata has rejected the chance to move to Sevilla with the former Manchester City youngster only wanting to join a club that would offer him guaranteed first-team football.

The La Liga outfit have already brought in three new centre-backs this summer. Sergi Gomez has arrived from Celta Vigo, Joris Gnangon from Rennes and Ibrahim Amadou from Lille, while they can already call upon the Denmark captain Simon Kjaer.

So Boyata would have a tough task forcing his way into Pablo Machin’s starting XI.

This doesn’t mean that Celtic fans can sleep easily, however, as Fanatik point out that Fenerbahce are still hopeful to bring Boyata, the best of an average defensive lot at Parkhead, to Istanbul.

Interestingly, Boyata started following Fener, runners up in the Super Lig last season, on Instagram earlier this week as speculation surrounding a move to Turkey intensifies.

The World Cup bronze medallist hasn’t played a single game for Celtic this season but returned to training with the first-team on Tuesday.
