Is Boli Mbombi heading to the Scottish Premiership or Serie A as Celtic reportedly want the Rapid Vienna left-back.

Celtic are continuing their search for a new full-back by turning their attentions to Rapid Vienna flyer Boli Mbombo, according to the Mail, although they face a battle with Napoli to sign the £3 million-rated Belgian.

It is no secret that the Scottish Premiership champions are in the market for a right-back with Mikael Lustig moving to Genk and Jeremy Toljan returning to parent club Borussia Dortmund.

But it seems that Neil Lennon might be forced to look at left-backs too with Kieran Tierney’s future uncertain following an initial £15 million bid from Arsenal.

And The Mail believes that Mbombo, the cousin of Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku, has been lined up as a potential replacement as he looks all-but certain to leave Austrian football behind this summer.

Celtic are not alone in expressing an interest in the £3 million man, however.

The chance to work under the legendary Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli could blow Celtic’s chances out of the water while Huddersfield Town and Burnley will offer Mbombo a chance in English football.

Premier League Burnley will probably be able to offer him a more lucrative contract but Celtic should not be ruled out. After all, guaranteed silverware and European football is not to be sniffed at.
