Middlesbrough could sell Paddy McNair, with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic battling Championship duo Derby County and Blackburn Rovers.

Celtic and Derby County have joined the race to sign Middlesbrough ace Paddy McNair, according to TEAMtalk, with the Championship outfit expected to cash in on their Northern Ireland international.
The former Manchester United youngster is famously versatile, capable of playing at centre-half, full-back and in midfield. But that didn’t help him make an impression during a disappointing debut season at the Riverside.
McNair started just seven Championship games in Boro colours across 2018/19. And TEAMtalk claims that the 24-year-old could be sold if the North East outfit are able to recoup the £3 million fee they paid Sunderland last summer.
The 29-time international is not short of suitors, however. Premier League newcomers Sheffield United are interested, alongside Championship pair Derby and Blackburn Rovers.

But links with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are particularly intriguing, particularly given that McNair was heavily linked with The Hoops three years ago when Brendan Rodgers was just getting started in Glasgow, as reported by the Daily Star.
McNair could be a very valuable addition to Celtic’s squad, given that he would be capable of providing support for ageing captain Scott Brown in the engine room or perhaps offering depth and cover at the back.
