Dedryck Boyata’s contract at Celtic expires at the end of this season but can Brendan Rodgers convince him to stay?
Dedryck Boyata appeared to drop a hint about his Celtic future over the weekend.
The Belgian centre-back has been heavily linked with a move away from Parkhead for the last few months but, speaking to the Glasgow Evening Times, Boyata said; “I am fully committed. I’m a Celtic player and I’m very happy to be a Celtic player.”
But it seems that this was merely Boyata confirming that he would give his all to his current employers, rather than indicating that he would be interested in extending a contract that expires at the end of this season.
Latest reports from HLN suggest that the former Manchester City man is indeed heading into his final few months as a Celtic player.
It is claimed that Brendan Rodgers’ side have all but given up hope of Boyata signing a new contract. As a result, HLN believes that there is a genuine chance he could leave Celtic as early as January.
The Scottish Premiership club will be fully aware that Boyata will be free to leave for absolutely nothing in June. So January is their last chance to make any money from the 27-year-old’s departure.
