Premier League underachievers West Ham United appear to have missed out on Carlo Ancelotti for the second time in less than a year

The perceived lack of ambition at West Ham United was perhaps best summed up back in the Autumn when they were linked with Carlo Ancelotti but ended up with David Moyes.
The Mail stated that The Hammers had identified the veteran Italian as a possible replacement for Slaven Bilic. Ancelotti is one of the most respected coaches of his generation, winning the Champions League three times as a manager while taking charge of Juventus, AC Milan, PSG, Chelsea, Real Madrid and, most recently, Bayern Munich.
Moyes, in contrast, had finished bottom of the Premier League with Sunderland a few months earlier.

And with the sullen-faced Scot relieved of his duties as West Ham boss, The Mirror (16th May, page 49) has suggested that Ancelotti has once again turned down the chance to take over at the London Stadium.
It is reported that the 58-year-old has said no to West Ham’s advances and is now in talks to replace the in demand Maurizio Sarri at Napoli. Interestingly, he could take Paul Clement with him despite the fact that Ancelotti’s long-term assistant has only been in charge of Reading for less than two months.

There have been a hold host of big name tacticians linked with West Ham this week already, including Unai Emery, Paulo Fonseca, Rafael Benitez and Marco Silva.
But it seems that Ancelotti, for the second time in less than a year, has passed them by.
