It will be a case of one-in-one-out at Cardiff City with the Championship outfit expected to replace Bruno Manga with Boro’s Aden Flint.

Cardiff City are set to seal the £6 million signing of Middlesbrough defender Aden Flint with the giant defender likely to undergo a medical in South Wales during the next 24 hours, according to the Northern Echo.

It is shaping up to be a busy couple of days at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Neil Warnock’s side are expected to raise £11 million via the sales of Kenneth Zohore and Bruno Manga, who are ready to join West Bromwich Albion and Guingamp respectively (Wales Online). And almost half of that will be reinvested in Flint, who could immediately replace Manga at the heart of Cardiff’s back line.

Cardiff will pay an initial £4 million, rising to £6 million, meaning Middlesbrough will recoup every penny that they paid Bristol City for Flint a year ago.

The 6ft 5ins centre-half might not have lived up to expectations at the Riverside but there is a reason why he’s so well respected at Ashton Gate.

Flint was a huge presence, literally and metaphorically, at Bristol City and he even scored 37 goals from defence, including 15 as The Robins soared to the League One title four years ago.

Time will tell who Boro turn to replace Flint, however. Jonathan Woodgate has a real challenge on his hands during his first year as a manager with goalkeeper Thomas Mejias the club’s only signing so far this summer.

Sealing a place in the top six might be easier said than done.
