Scottish Premiership giants Rangers want to hang onto Josh Windass but he is a reported target for Premier League newcomers Cardiff City.

Once again, the future of Rangers midfielder Josh Windass has come into question.
There has been no confirmation so far suggesting that Rangers rejected any offer. But the fact that Windass has a release clause of £3 million in his contract means it is very unlikely that the Scottish Premiership giants would sell one of their star players for half-price.

It is understood that the Bluebirds are now set to trigger Windass’s release clause with a bid of £3 million. This means the former Accrington Stanley youngster, who moved to Ibrox for £200,000 in 2016, would be free to decide whether he wants to stay and work under Steven Gerrard or seize his chance in the Premier League.

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock is a big fan of Windass, who enjoyed the most prolific season of his career in 2017/18 by scoring 18 goals from midfield.
But Gerrard is also understood to be an admirer of the player, who has the raw potential to learn a lot from one of the greatest midfielders of his generation.
