Cardiff City are running out of time in their attempts to bring a new right-back to South Wales in the January transfer window. But this is not for a lack of trying.

According to France Football, Cardiff have been looking across The Channel for potential additions but Neil Warnock looks set to be disappointed in his pursuit of both Edgar and Valentin Rosier.

24-year-old Portuguese international Edgar was understood to be The Bluebirds’ top target but he is set to join Ligue 1 rivals Nantes instead.

Rosier, who also plies his trade in France for Dijon, was also on Cardiff’s radar. But France Football report that Les Rouges have no interest in letting the France U21 starlet leave the Stade Gaston Gerard midway through the season.

As a result, Cardiff have now turned their attention to Monaco benchwarmer Almany Toure, who has struggled for game-time this season and remains behind Djibril Sidibe in the pecking order.

Toure is out of contract at the end of the season and is also on the radar of Eintracht Frankfurt, though Cardiff could offer him the first-team minutes he is not getting in the Principality.
