Sean Dyche reportedly wants to reunite with his former Watford striker Troy Deeney at Burnley.
Sean Dyche was not the Watford manager for long, taking charge of just 49 games during the 2011/12 season. But Troy Deeney obviously made an impression on the gruff-voiced gaffer, scoring 11 goals for the Hornets during his one season in the Vicarage Road dugout.
And ESPN is now reporting that Dyche wants to reunite with Deeney at Burnley. It is reported that the Clarets have made a bid of £9 million for the 30-year-old centre-forward and are prepared to offer him a five-year contract.
It remains to be seen whether Deeney would be willing to bid farewell to Watford after eight years in the club’s famous yellow kit.
He started regularly under Javi Gracia once the Spaniard replaced Marco Silva in the spring, so he is expected to be a key part of his plans again next season.
Burnley have not spent a penny in the transfer market this summer, however, and Deeney would give the Clarets some much needed depth should they qualify for the Europa League group-stages.
As it stands, Burnley have Ashley Barnes, Chris Wood and Sam Vokes as their striking options, although the latter has been tipped to leave with Middlesbrough reported to be interested.
