West Bromwich Albion have held a second round of talks with Bruno Labbadia as the German emerges as the surprise frontrunner to replace Darren Moore at The Hawthorns, according to the Express and Star.

An experienced coach with 16 years of experience on the touchline, Labbadia has spent his entire playing and managerial career in Germany but looks set to be offered a chance to prove himself in England after leading Wolfsburg to the Europa League last season.

According to the Express and Star, the 53-year-old met West Brom’s technical director Luke Dowling on Monday and there has now been a second round of talks between the two parties.

Labbadia is now understood to be the favourite to take over at the Midland giants.

Interestingly, Labbadia has also turned down the chance to take over at Hamburg for a third spell, Die Welt claiming that he is looking for a ‘new chapter’ and has no interest in re-joining the second tier side.

It will be interesting to see whether Labbadia could get the best out of a talented West Brom squad but Baggies fans should take plenty of confidence from the fact that he turned around Wolfsburg’s fortunes in sensational style.

The 2009 Bundesliga champions won a relegation play-off towards the end of Labbadia’s first season in charge and qualified for Europe just 12 months later.
