Matty Taylor’s move from Bristol Rovers to Bristol City will be one of the most surprising deals of the winter window.
Bristol City appear to have edged closer to stealing prolific striker Matty Taylor from their city rivals, the Bristol Post reports, as Rovers have identified his replacement.
The 25-year-old goal machine spearheaded the Pirates’ rise from non-league to League One and has settled perfectly into life in the third tier, scoring 16 goals in 28 appearances.

However, the bona fide fan favourite appears to be in the process of pouring petrol on his bridges as he prepares for a sensational exit to local neighbours Bristol City, the Post reports; a move that would make him the first player in 30 years to swap blue and white for red.

Taylor only signed a new contract with Rovers in the summer, but Lee Johnson’s Championship strugglers triggered his release clause as they aim to push away from relegation danger in the final months of the season.

And the Bristol Post adds that Rovers boss Darrell Clarke has identified Dover Athletic front man Ricky Miller as the ideal replacement for his soon to be departed talisman.
Miller, like Taylor, made his name in non-league, netting 27 goals in the Vanarama National League already in a prolific campaign.
