Brighton and Hove Albion look set to sign one of the most exciting young talents in Argentinian football.

Argentinos Juniors midfielder Alexis MacAllister has been heavily linked with a move to England in recent weeks and, according to The Mail, Brighton are now in talks ahead of what will be a £7 million deal.

The Argus adds that the 20-year-old confirmed to a radio station in his homeland that he is set to travel to Brighton for a medical – though he will stay with Argentinos Juniors until the end of the season.

Born in La Pampa, MacAllister is rated highly in his homeland and received his first call up for the Argentina U20s in 2017. He has scored three goals in nine games this season and is capable of playing further forward in a ‘second striker’ position.

He is also renowned for his set piece delivery and his cutting edge through balls while a prodigious work rate is likely to have impressed Brighton manager Chris Hughton, a coach who demands full commitment from every player in his gifted yet industrious squad.
