Chris Hughton’s Brighton and Hove Albion are continuing to overhaul their attack with Nick Powell of Wigan Athletic the latest target.

When Wigan Athletic took on West Ham United in Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round clash at the DW Stadium, Nick Powell looked like the game’s most obvious top flight player.
The midfielder was in sublime form as Will Grigg’s double sealed a 2-0 win, displaying class and composure aplenty in the centre of the park, and looking every inch the talent Manchester United thought they were signing from Crewe Alexandra back in 2012.
You never would have guessed that Powell would be playing for the third tier side.

But according to the Mail, the one-time wonderkid could get a fresh start in England’s top flight on transfer deadline day. Because Brighton are understood to have offered £3 million to sign the Wigan talisman as Chris Hughton continues to overhaul his attack.
Powell has scored 11 goals for Wigan this season to fire the side to the top of the League One table and, in truth, he has been a cut above in the third tier of English football.
It remains to be seen, however, whether the Latics would be willing to cash in midway through the season and with a big-money takeover reportedly in the offing. The Mail adds that Wigan could ask for Brighton to send Powell back to Lancashire for the rest of the season on loan.

Brighton have already signed Jurgen Locadia and Leo Ulloa this month and Powell would offer further creativity and thrust in the final third.
Earlier in the window, TEAMtalk claimed that Southampton, West Brom and Crystal Palace were keen.
